W/C 7th August.

Miss Sioned Owen caught her first ever salmon on Monday in Middle Fontie. It was a nice 8lb cock fish. Sioned was a novice to fly fishing but, was putting out a nice line within no time at all and, truly deserved her fish which, in turn, gave a good account of itself whilst being played. Fish were seen in most of the main pools at stages throughout the week.

The weather was largely settled all week. Tuesday and the first half of Wednesday were unseasonably cold owing to a brisk North Westerly wind. From Wednesday lunchtime onwards, it got much warmer, humid even on occasion, with the air temperature just shy of hitting the mid twenties. Saturday morning however, was cooler with an occasional light drizzle.

The river height dropped away quickly as the week progressed and is now well below summer level once more. There was however, a very small rise early Saturday morning. The water temperature jumped significantly on Thursday morning and yet further by the end of the fishing week.
